R Neil Haugen Nov 18, 2013 2:03 PM (in response to rexpost)Rex,
You are NOT alone in this ... irritation. And yes, PLEASE fill out the wish-form thingie that Manuel listed in his response. I've done the same thing. I've also mentioned/whined about it in several posts on different parts of the P-Pro/Sg/Ae workflow issues ... that the damn proper graticules are missing in all of the Adobe Vectorscopes. But they have them in the other three scopes they have available!
So it is something that multiple Adobe staffers that 'work' these forums have dealt with, and noted in responses. We are just going to have to whine until they finally decide it's worth the couple minutes of graphic re-encoding to build them into the UI layout. Although I'm sure someone will jump in to tell me it's not that simple, that it would require major work to design/encode. Yea, right, and ... the recent upgrade didnt'?
Making their vectorscope a fully 'functional' one would be a huge work-flow helper for me ...

rexpost Nov 18, 2013 2:33 PM (in response to R Neil Haugen)Thanks Neil, I just submitted the feature request.
I don't love the one in premiere, but it's WAY more useful than the one in SpeedGrade.
Hoping they put a nicer one in, like DaVinci Resolve or Apple Color has.

Ken_Disney Dec 11, 2013 11:56 AM (in response to rexpost)Agreed. I've submitted a feature request too.
Adding measurement references like an actual broadcast vectorscope? Seems pretty obivous.
Plus, I find the dynamic scaling of the actual scopes (Waveform & parade) very distracting and hard to measure what I'm doing accurately.

R Neil Haugen Dec 11, 2013 2:07 PM (in response to Ken_Disney)Good point on the parade & waveform. Why they want them to do that as the default is beyond me. At first, I didn't realize they were changing/shifting their "scale" as much as they did ... I kept trying to re-adjust and then the image went batty ... till I figured out that based on some "read" of what's going on, yea, the scale changes. What?
So rather than just adjusting with a quick glance, you have to actually study the scale to see what numbers are where at this moment. Dang weird, and slows me WAY down.

COFilms Apr 17, 2014 8:23 AM (in response to rexpost)They have listened!
I moaned about this and according to Patrick Palmer the next release is a move towards more broadcast standard, familiar scopes witht the waveform displaying IRE values and also the vectorscope having overlays showing hue and saturation information more clearly! HOORAY!
When is it out though?

R Neil Haugen Apr 17, 2014 4:54 PM (in response to COFilms)The 'scopes demo'd at NAB are a VAST improvement over what we have now, can't wait to get them to work with. I think you'll love 'em when you see 'em! I watched Eric demo some grading, and made sure to personally thank him for those ... and Mr. Palmer also. They were talking about the newest release being sometime not too far off but I've forgotten about when ... sometime soon (define "soon" ... )

"Soon" means "before summer." Now don't ask me to define "summer!"

R Neil Haugen Apr 18, 2014 10:03 AM (in response to EricPhilpott)Eric,
There's a comic strip in the Us ... "Zits" it's called ... a teen-age high-school boy, his weird friends and his very "normal" parents. Mom asks him while he's lounging all over living room furniture, when he's going to clean up his room, he responds "Soon ... ".
Mom asks "Define 'soon' ... "
Jeremy's reply, without ever looking up from his smartphone: "Not soon."
Having lived through that age myself, and gotten several teens through that age as an adult, I laughed quite a while when I saw that strip. I am currently waiting mostly patiently for the awesome new scopes ... but those new scopes you have ... that's like getting a whiff of a fantastic dinner but having to wait a few weeks to actually eat it.
Torture, Eric, I tell you it's torture!
