Michael Witherell Nov 22, 2013 7:02 AM (in response to HSGROW_HK)Just guessing, but what if you go to Photoshop preferences and turn this feature off?

HSGROW_HK Nov 22, 2013 2:34 PM (in response to Michael Witherell)I went to PS Preferences > Performance > and Clicked "Use Graphics Processor" to turn off that feature, restarted PS however GPU still switched. I don't understand why Adobe Apps need GPU when they are not doing anything graphics intensive.

Michael Witherell Nov 22, 2013 4:16 PM (in response to HSGROW_HK)I really don't know how to control it at all. Perhaps the color management plumbing raises the requirements. At any rate, the only conservation of energy I know to practice with a laptop is to lower the screen brightness. Personally, I am forever plugging my laptop in wherever I use it.

HSGROW_HK Dec 4, 2013 4:17 AM (in response to Michael Witherell)Yes Michael, I think so - but continued plug-in of Macbook is not advised by Apple. Moreover, I usually use ID when -on the move - kills time in airports, trains, etc so no option :-( CS5 was not like this...

Michael Witherell Dec 4, 2013 6:21 AM (in response to HSGROW_HK)That is interesting, and I have not read any cautions from Apple. I have used my Late2009 MacBook Pro operating it while plugged in (most of the time) and I have never seen any ill effects. When I use it on battery, I still get 4-5 hours of use, even now.
I recall that when going to battery only, the OS slows down the CPU, and therefore overall responds slower when I am using InDesign. That is why I often take the trouble to plug it in--even in airport waiting areas.
