I was getting similar errors with XMLEncoding on M$ .NET webservices.

Might have something to do with this bug:

The best way to get WebService issues investigated is to log a bug at http://bugs.adobe.com/flex/.

When logging WebService bugs, please include the WSDL, any wsdl imports or includes, any XML Schema imports, a snippet of how you're calling the WebService if it's an encoding bug with the request, or an HTTP capture of the SOAP response XML if it's an issue with decoding the response (as appears to be the case from your posting).

Your bug appears to be an issue with the generated WebService Stub code as I'm guessing your WSDL makes use of nested schema imports. I believe this has been fixed recently.

It's still worth logging a bug, however, just to be sure.
