how do I make sure the files i export from lightroom to hard drive are the same large files i imported to lightroom from my camera?  I have worked on a collection for many hours and following export to hard drive the file sizes are tiny??

      Extremely frustrated!!!

To export at the same size in pixels as the original, just do NOT check the "resize to fit" box in the Export dialog.

Do not pay attention to file size; this will mislead you. The exports done this way have the same number of pixels as the original photo.

Thank-you so much.  Thank you thank-you thank-you.  I thought I had done something wrong at import stage and had corrupted all the files and would have to start again!!!!

It's important to understand that all the work you do on your images in Lightroom is saved in the LR catalog file. If you want to be sure that you will not loose that work, be sure to backup the catalog file regularly. I like to set it to backup every time light room exits.

It is also helpful (in the event of hard drive failure) to have Lightroom save the backed up catalog files to a separate hard drive from where the main catalog resides.
