Trouble downloading Flash Player

I just bought a new Macbook Pro (OS 9), downloaded Flash Player with Safari (version 7), however it doesn't seem to have worked.  I've tried multiple times to no avail.  I don't think a "clean install" is necessary because there was no previous Flash version on the computer.  I have no idea how to get this to work. Help?

If there was no previous version, check your Safari Preferences under the Security tab to be sure that "Allow Plug-ins" is checked.
