Was DYP Dec 1, 2013 4:54 AM (in response to e_video)Print to a separated postscript files and distill to PDF with Acrobat distiller.
You can then print from Acrobat of place appropriate separated page into Indesign and print.

rob day Dec 1, 2013 5:02 AM (in response to e_video)Have you tried saving a postscript file and distilling—you need the Acrobat 9.0 PPD for 10.7 and later? Sorry I can't test in Mavericks.

The Print setup would look like this:
Alternatively you could export a PDF/X-1a, open it in Photoshop as CMYK, Image>Mode>Multichannel, and from the Channels flyout Split Channels, which would give you the separations as individual grayscale files.

rob day Dec 1, 2013 12:05 PM (in response to Laubender)Right, but if that works out of Acrobat it should also work out of ID as in my #2, unless Mavericks doesn't allow the Acrobat 9 PPD

Steve Werner Dec 1, 2013 12:38 PM (in response to rob day)You can put Acrobat 9 PPD (and other PPDs) in the "PPDs" folder just like in earlier versons of Mac OS X. No problems in Mavericks.

e_video Dec 1, 2013 4:04 PM (in response to Steve Werner)True. Thanks everyone! Turns out I didn't have the PPD installed correctly/didn't know how to install it. After reading the advice here I found Manish-Sharma's advice in another thread to be helpful in regards to installation: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4767658 His directions are for PC users but are easily adaptible for Mac.
The seperations print without issue now. I just print to seperated Ps file through the print menu in InDesign like I used to. And I'll use Acrobat Distiller to create the PDF. The help is much appreciated. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
