Using mini DV tape footage in Premiere Pro

Normally I shoot video as 720p 30fps and edit in Premiere Pro CC. In my present project I have some mini DV tape footage from a friend I'd like to incorporate, It was shot on his Panasonic PV-GS300 in the wide-screen (16:9) mode, and we'll be using that camera as a playback device. I do not have a firewire input on the computer, but the camera has a USB connector that I can probably use to capture.

I have not worked with DV in years (back in the old Premiere 6 days), and I am wondering what the best work flow is? Will Premiere Pro CC even capture DV anymore? I also need to mix the footage with 720p footage and am wondering how best to do that.

Any suggestions will be most appreciated.  Thanks!
