Distnoted uses 100% CPU

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.8 and I use Mac OS X Mavericks. When I open Acrobat, distnoted jumps to 100% CPU usage. When I close Acrobat, distnoted drops back to near 0% CPU usage. This issue may have started when I upgraded to OS X Mavericks. I don't have this problem with any other programs. I have tried reinstalling Acrobat but it doesn't help. Any help is appreciated! This issue makes Acrobat nearly unuseable.

distnoted is part of Mac OS X. Unfortunately, apart from an unhelpful note that it is to do with message processing, nobody seems to know what it is for. Googling shows many people with this sort of symptom, but with all sorts of apps, not just Acrobat.

I do understand this might be a Mac OS X thing, though for me at least, it only happens for Acrobat. I previously did a little searching for distnoted but I missed that article, which does potentially have some interesting tips. I haven't gotten anything useful in my log file yet and today, for some reason, the problem is less bad right now (distnoted uses only like 25% CPU). If I get anything interesting from the logs, I'll post it.
