I'm using Windows 8.1 and Firefox 25.0.1. After an aborted attempt at updating Adobe Flash Player, I uninstalled it (using the Adobe uninstaller) and tried afresh.
Each time I receive the following error:
Error: Error in loading DLL
I've tried following various suggestions including uninstalling, putting download files on the desktop/shutting down/rebooting/closing antivirus (Windows Defender) and reinstalling, with no success.
I have Windows Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, both with Flash Player running with no problems.
Does anyone know a solution to this? Or is it time to ditch Firefox?
Start fresh... Bypass the downloader/installer:
Download the following files by right clicking and selecting "Save target as" or "Save Link as".
Save ALL files to your Downloads folder - DO NOT RUN anything yet.
Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything else, go to your Downloads folder and run the UNINSTALLER to remove all instances of Flash Player.
Next, run the ActiveX Installer.
Lastly, run the Installer for other browsers.
Once it's installed, see:Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer and: ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer to make 100% sure that Flash Player is enabled and NOT being blocked by ActiveX controls.
Chrome has its own proprietary plugin so you won't need to do anything for it.
Thanks very much for your help Mike, now sorted.
