1. Re: How do you merge layers with all layer options in tact?
Trevor.Dennis Dec 3, 2013 10:22 PM (in response to Richea)If the result of a flaterned layer stack is not quite what you expected, select the top layer, and add a copy merged layer to the top of the stack (Shift Ctrl Alt e or Shift Cmd Opt e). That has always worked for me.

c.pfaffenbichler Dec 3, 2013 11:09 PM (in response to Richea)When two Layers are merged the resulting Layer can natuarlly only have one Blend Mode.
So if the Color Dodge-Layer extends beyond the lower Normal-Layer the result you describe seems as expected.

3. Re: How do you merge layers with all layer options in tact?
Trevor.Dennis Dec 4, 2013 12:40 AM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)I did wonder if it was a case of expecting a single layer with other than a Normal blend mode, but the way Richea has worded the OP, it is saying that the merged layers come together as if the top layer was in Normal mode, when it was actually in Colour Dodge mode. But we generally have no way of gauging a new poster's abilities.

You’re right.
Richea, could you please post screenshots with the Layers Panel visible of the image before and after the merging?

5. Re: How do you merge layers with all layer options in tact?
Richea Dec 4, 2013 4:02 PM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)Don't worry, it doesn't seem fixable. I just made a new layer with a Gaussian blur to cover it all up.
