If the document create on a new version save as IDML and open again.
Thanks, I did try to open a CS6 document and had to have it saved differently, but I still don't have the Transform Panel plugin when I try to open documents I created in CS5. I'm also missing text wrap. Is there a way to get these restored.
I saw someone else was told to remove and reinstall CS5, but if I remove it, I can't reinstall. I had the files saved on an external hard drive that got fried.
Is indesign updated to latest patch 7.0.4?

If the plugins are really missing, you need to reinstall. Did you check to see if they are there?
It's still possible that these are not CS5 files and you've forgotten that you used a trial for a newer version. You can use this script to identify the version: Adobe Forums: [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File
Thanks, I don't have a trial version. The CS6 file came from someone else. And I've tried opening many different files of my own, all of which were created with CS5, and I'm still missing 3/4s of the icons on the upper toolbar and have no transform or text wrap options.
Not sure if it makes a difference, but I'm getting the plugin message when I open InDesign, not when I try to open a document. The full message says:
"Cannot load DynamicDocumentsUI.APLN because it requires the Transform Panel. Please install the Transform Panel plugin and restart InDesign."
I don't know how to check if the plugins are there, and I don't know how to install them if they are. That's my question. If someone could explain it simply, I'd really appreciate it.
Do a file search for the plugin names.
If they're not found, reinstall.
If this is a trial version, will it expire?
In 30 days, then you can pay.
You won't be able to reinstall the trial of CS5 on the same computer, I think. Are the plugins there? Does it work in a different user?
