I've watched a few tutorials on this, but still don't know e.g. what size still image is best for an HD project (I imagine much larger than 1920 x 1080?)
I'm fairly clear on vanishing point in PS to use a single still image, but does anyone know a good tutorial on stitching together several images in PS or whatever?
Depends on what kind of environment... Reflection maps can be fairly low res since usually one would want some blur in them anyway to avoid small details popping out too much or causing aliasing... Backgrounds for matte paintings might be different, but dollying into a landscape would still require only relatively small layers whereas panning around will require more room to work with....
