I'm on Windows 8.1 IDCC. When I choose Load Swatches and then select the file from where to load swatches they automatically are added to my document. No step in between.
I think you misunderstand the load swatches command.
The .acb files that are grayed out are color books, and they're already installed. Instead of Load Swatches, use New Color Swatch, then you can choose a color book from the Color Mode dropdown:
Load Swatches is used to load a set of swatches from a .ase file saved from an Adobe application, or from another ID document.
THanks, I thought I remembered being able to see all the color swatches as in PS. I must have been worng. THanks - you saved a ton of frustration.
