So i am using the find replace tool in indesign and I was wondering how i could find something but only replace part of it.
Here is an example
if i am looking for
but i only want to replace the $ and make it into maybe &.
How would i do that?
so pretty much i want
$100 to be &100.
please let me know if i need to claify.
or simply ^\$
The first is a $ preceeded by a paragraph return, followed by a digit, but that's really the same thing as a $ as the first character of a paragraph, so the ^ is really all you'd need, and it's not likely you'd really encounter a $ not followed by a digit, so you can probably eliminate the look-ahead, but it won't hurt to use it if you want to. You do need to "escape" the $, though, or it means the end of a paragraph.
Use whatever you like in the change field.
exactly what i was looking for! thanks a lot Peter.
