You should have asked if there was any point in installing Mavericks.
Nothing earlier than CS6 is supported and in addition, an in place
operating system upgrade is really a crapshoot. All that said,
uninstalling and reinstalling CS5 would be the first thing I'd try.
After you install java, if you haven't done it already....
What feline operating system did you upgrade to Mavericks from?
I bought a new Macbook pro running Mountain Lion, my iMac ran Lion, I tried to use the merge assistant to transfer data from the iMac to the Pro, and CS.5 corrupted. Also preview would not work. Apple's advice was to upgrade both to Mavericks in order to get both machines using the same OS which could have caused the corruption. So now I think I either shell out for CS6 with no clear promise that will work or maybe step back from Mavericks to the previous OS?
