Mark Mapes Dec 15, 2013 12:50 AM (in response to NorfolkPete)I asked because 7.1 had fixes for several flaws in the sync-by-audio, and 7.2 included a couple more. If you're on 7.2, I'm afraid I have no advice. That's not to say that there are no tips & tricks that would help but only that I'm not very well versed in this feature. Hopefully others with real-world experience will have more to offer.

NorfolkPete Dec 15, 2013 2:15 AM (in response to Mark Mapes)Hi Mark,
Yes I have version 7.2.0.
Hmmm this is a tad frustrating as I must had spent 2/3 hours yesterday going through what Andrew Trice did and trying to replicate it on a small clip.
So I guess I am doing this correctly and there's not much more I can do to sort this?
You see the multi cam feature is a bit over the top for what I need.
As mentioned I have one cam recording the whole presentation and another cam on a tripod that we move about and zoom in to get close ups of the same presentation.
I was hoping from what I'd seem Pro could handle me adding and then syncing small clips to the main video.
Is there anything else you can recommend using Pro that can sort this?
Many thanks, Pete

JSS1138 Dec 15, 2013 10:28 AM (in response to NorfolkPete)Any time you have two cameras of the same 'event', I think multicam is the best way to go. But to make that work efficiently, you really need to run both cameras continuously for the duration of that event. Start and stops only create unnecessary work, as you now finding out.

NorfolkPete Dec 15, 2013 11:28 AM (in response to JSS1138)Hi Jim,
Yes this seems to be more work than I hoped for especially after I have seen many videos saying just how good this new feature is and yet it doesn't work.
A tad frustrating. Fortunately I have Pro on trial, if it cant do what it say then lucky I don't need to buy.
Will give it another go tomorrow and see how I get on
Thanks, P

7. Re: Multi-Clip Sync using audio in Premiere Pro CC
NorfolkPete Dec 15, 2013 12:02 PM (in response to Mark Mapes)Ok I am really beginning to think I am doing something wrong here
Thinking I am not going to be able to sync using just audio I just watched this:
Multi-Camera improvements in Premiere Pro CC
http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/whats-new-7-1.html
So gave multi cam a go. Added to video clips.
intro.MTS is the main presentation
intro1.MTS is the small clip but at a different angle.
The quality of the audio is very clear and yet it could not be synchronized!
I get the failure message below.
Do the video clips have to be saved 'as' something other than what I have?
It cant be coincidental that I can't sync using either method.
I am using a trial of Pro CC, hope that makes no difference
Thanks, Pete

JSS1138 Dec 15, 2013 1:42 PM (in response to NorfolkPete)The audio sync feature is new, and not perfect. Don't let this stop you. Sync manually and keep moving forward with the edit.

9. Re: Multi-Clip Sync using audio in Premiere Pro CC
NorfolkPete Dec 16, 2013 1:08 AM (in response to JSS1138)It's just when I see this working perfectly for Andrew Trice in his video I wonder why I can't get this to work at all.
Also if I have to manually sync things then why use Premier Pro? I may as well use Elements of which I already Have.
If multi cam and sync by audio do not work then it makes Premier Pro an expense not worth paying for.

JSS1138 Dec 16, 2013 2:29 PM (in response to NorfolkPete)If Elements does everything you need, then by all means continue with that.
I expect audio sync will get better over time, though.

11. Re: Multicam Sync using audio in Premiere Pro CC
C. Greene Oct 22, 2014 8:48 AM (in response to NorfolkPete)I agree that this feature is VERY buggy. When it works, it's great; when it doesn't, well, you know how frustrating that is. I often get a result where the two clips "sync" with no overlap at all.
I'm probably at a success rate of 2/10 for this feature.
The suggestion to run the second camera continuously (on your next shoot) is a good one.
