I don’t think you provide enough information – what were you doing in Photoshop for example?
Please read this and proceed accordingly:
What is your Photoshop > Preferences > General > Beep When Done setting?
You have probably read the thread on beeping. Could be OS or associated with generator. We can't hear it here, so what do you suspect? Is there a code to beeping?
I was doing what I've done with this very version of Photoshop since it was released - and with all previous version since pre-Macromedia buyout i.e. working happily without PS ever making a single noise.
So certainly no beep when done setting has ever been touched. Just checked it - no beep set to sound ever.
To be specific - I opened a file. It beeped repeatedly at an ear hurting volume for 15 seconds (timed it the second time).
I converted something to a Smart Object - it beeped for 15 seconds.
I changed a layer order - it beeped.
And my ears are still ringing and painful. I hope Adobe understand that when I say "beep" I mean piercing ear shattering shriek for a sustained period - through headphones.
Thanks for the link through to your other article - read it many times. And yes read all the other posts about beeping - tried any suggestions - all failed. Hence my asking a question myself.
My patent anger is borne through this being the first time Adobe has caused me actual physical pain.rather than just the usual emotional.
I could hazard a few guesses - morse code cry for help from a disgruntled employee / latency from a cold war numbers station / whalesong - but to be honest I was really hoping that perhaps an actual employee of Adobe might be able to help?
(editted) Some Adobe employees have thankfully been dropping by here but if you suspect a legitimate bug (and can reproduce it) you may want to also post over at
