Your son likely does not need to spend time learning InDesign with a business to run.
You can do about $30/month. That's a lot of months to decide if it is worth learning.

The link points to the current release of CC which is more current than CS6. CC can work in CS6 if there is a need to stay with CS6.
If all he's doing is menus, why does he need such a high end program?
Restaurant graphic designer gave him ID files which he’s used for menus, wine list, fliers. Doesn’t want to change….
Then he can subscribe to one single app in Creative Cloud and get
InDesign CC for $20/month. That includes all updates and upgrades along
the way. It's that or lay out $700 for the older CS6. There is a free
trial available and I'd advise him to take advantage of it.
