    Invalid_Key

      Adobe "Premier Elements 4" says that my key is invalid.  How can I fix this, or get a valid key?

       

      My old machine died.  I am now installing "Premier Elements" on a new machine.

       

      The new machine is:

      • Window 7 Ultimate, SP1
      • Processor: AMD FX(tm)-8150  Eight-Core processor, 3.61 GHz
      • Memory: 32Gb
      • 64 Bit Operating System
      • No pen or touchscreen
      • Rating 7.4

          By key, do you mean purchased serial number?

           

          How are you installing Premiere Elements 4, from purchased installation disc or purchased installation files from a download?

           

          Where are you reading your serial number from?

           

          You could try going to My Adobe at http://www.adobe.com and determining if your product's serial number is recorded there in your account.

           

          Also, you can contact Adobe via its Adobe Chat on this activation matter.

          After the following link opens, click on "I still need help." to bring up the Adobe Chat.

            I will contact chat.

             

            Sorry I got the terminology wrong.  It is asking for a Serial Number.

             

            I have a physical CD containing CS3, Photoshop 6, and PremierElements 4. 

            I installed PremierElements.  It seemed to go okay.

             

            When I run PremierElements, it asks for a Serial number.

            When I enter the serial number it states the serial number is invalid.

             

            The serial number I am entering is the one in my account on Adobe.com.

              I have not seen that combo of programs on an installation disc. Did Premiere Elements 4 originally come

              as a tryout program on the installation disc which was purchased for CS3 (Photoshop or Premiere Pro)?

               

              Be that as it may, Adobe Chat should be able to work through the details with you.

                I have a physical CD containing CS3, Photoshop 6, and PremierElements 4.

                There has never been such a combo from Adobe. Where did you purchase this physical disc?

                 

                If from someone on eBay, or similar, then it is likely to have been pirated, and any S/N will likely have been used up, or flagged by Adobe.

                 

                Please let us know more about that disc.

                  In fact this was purchased from adobe.  The evidence is still present in my account where the user name is this email adress.

                   

                  I know it is still there because I wanted tp assure I was typing in the correcr serial number.  I was.

                   

                   

                  I was on CHAT with the technical team all day.

                    I just saw that you wrote

                    The "all day" part did not sound good. Did Adobe make any sort of progress in resolving this matter

                      I did go to my adobe account.

                       

                      The serial number is was entering was correct.

                       

                      I reentered it and check it several times.

                        I was after Premier Elements.  Photoshop was a bonus.

                         

                         

                         

                        I was with Adobe CHAT all Wednesday.

                          At the end of several sessions lasting eight hours the last of several Adobe CHAT reps informed me that PREL 4 is not compatible with Windows 7 Ultimate (x64).  I told them my O/S in the beginning.

                           

                           

                           

                          So it became necessary for me to buy version12 so that I could continue my project.

                           

                           

                           

                          It would have been nice if I did not have to spend all day:

                           

                          ·         CHATTING,

                           

                          ·         Installing,

                           

                          ·         Uninstalling,

                           

                          ·         Rebooting my machine,

                           

                          ·         And then Waiting for the next chat to open

                           

                           

                           

                          I had to renter the CHAT session many times due to reboots and dropped connections.

                           

                           

                           

                          All of this, to finally find out that it could never work.

                            Sorry the news was not better about your Premiere Elements 4 Windows.

                             

                            I have never used the Windows 7 Ultimate edition SP1. I have Windows XP Professional SP3 32 bit, Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit, Windows 8 64 bit, and Windows 8.1 64 bit and Premiere Elements 4 does install and perform on all. Been there and done that. So, I am not sure what is unique with regard to your Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and Premiere Elements 4 in this case.

                             

                            So I find the end result puzzling.

                             

                            We hope that you are moving forward with your video projects with Premiere Elements 12 and that all is going well. As you can see, there is a marked change in interface going from versions 4 to 12. The principles tend to stay the same but many of those features do move around or are discontinued.
