I don't think I've seen anythign quite like this one before.
Can you show us the template file?
Is theis a "fresh" template, or has it ever been merged after pressing the preview button. Preview bugs seem to "infect" a template so they don't work properly after, even if the preview button was not pressed.
When I look at the screen cap of the template, it looks lke there is more grouped with your placeholders do you have extra frames you are not using?
Yes. It's a fresh document that hadn't been previewed. I tried that several times after found some discussion about the preview bug.
On the template above there is a frame that has no stroke and is the width of the page. That is in addition to the image frame and the text frame.
Here is the template for the first image I posted. Both templates result the same, with or without the additional frame. That had just the image frame and text frame—NO additional frame.
I'm going to send you an upload link so you can send me the template file. I think I need to see it.
OK, got your file. If you group the data fileds with the image so everything is in one group it should work (I'm getting a few overset frames, though).
I don't know why this is happening, though. In my experience, when your placeholders are onthe master like yours, a failure to group with other content you want to duplicate should keep that content from reproducing, so I would have expected one image, and lots of addresses, per page. This might be a bug in CC, but since this is the first Data Merge I've tried in that version I'm not prepared to say it is for sure.
Wow. That's crazy. It actually worked! I thought I had already tried grouping the frames.
Are you a member of the Adobe support, or just a nice guy helping out?!
Thanks so much for the help!!!!
Like almost everyone here I'm just an experienced user volunteer.
Have a good week and a good holiday.
Very nice of you to take the time to help!
Happy holidays to you, too!
