When you get the message regarding the display card, can you press OK or Continue and move on in the project? Or, does the message stop you from working in the project?
Does the message appear with the import and placement of your source media on the Premiere Elements 12 Timeline?
Looking forward to your follow up.
Thanks.

3. Re: premiere elements displays incompatible message
EPHRAIM GITELMAN Dec 18, 2013 2:45 PM (in response to A.T. Romano)It didn't allow me to proceed at all. I went to the BIOS and changed the graphics to fixed. So. far that seems to have fixed the problem

Wonderful news. Good job.
Were the key suggestions/instructions on that fix in John T. Smith's references?
Thanks for the follow up.

5. Re: premiere elements displays incompatible message
EPHRAIM GITELMAN Dec 18, 2013 4:51 PM (in response to A.T. Romano)I am not really sure. There were a lot of links. Many of them were for Premiere Pro. I did a lot of searching on the topic and knew that the Intel Graphics was the problem. I tried the Intel VGA driver. It worked but had limited resolution of 1280/768. I am using the 1368/.XXX even though I have a hd display. When I use the hd resolution the characters are too small.
When I bought the laptop from HP two years ago there a lot of customer complaints about the switchable graphics-which HP finally fixed. I also knew that since PRE!2 was 64 bits that might cause some problems with display drivers. I spent about 2-3 hours researching and finally fixing the problem. I am not happy about Adobe's lack of foresight and concern about these kinds of issues. This was not a problem on PRE11which I believe also was 64 bits.
Anyway, thanks again for your help. I am glad to see you working this forum.

Thanks for the details of your situation which you remedied great.
Your explanation of the problem and solution is an excellent contribution to those who find themselves in a similar situation.
You and I have been navigating the Premiere Elements troubleshooting for several years now. It is always good when the solution is found. And, you did that.
Best wishes,

7. Re: premiere elements displays incompatible message
EPHRAIM GITELMAN Dec 19, 2013 10:52 AM (in response to A.T. Romano)I had a surprise this morning when I tried to open the pre12 editor. I got the same incompatible message. I went to the device manager and found that the amd radeon display adapter was gone. I only had the intel display adapter. I then went to the bios and found that it switched back to dynamic. I changed it to fixed and pre12 worked. I also right clicked on the desktop and got a switchable graphicx menu. I set it to only use the gpu and unchecked the box that controlled the laptop to go into power saving mode on battery. I then restarted my laptop to see if the fixed setting had not changead and opened pre12 successfully.

Please let us know if this situation reoccurs. Hope not.
