That's the OS, not ID. Drag the column to the correct width.
i've tried that, but still i dont see other columns
in other programs no problem..just in indesign...and when i'm thinking of it...i think the mac on my work got the same....can it be in the cloud?
A screen shot would help....
I'm not a mac user, so I'm not sure, but it looks to me like the next colum is probably right-aligned, and it needs to be dragged narrower, too, but I can't see a way to find the right-hand edge of it.
OK, that's probably not right, based on the second set of screen shots. Is there a way to select the columns that show? you might need to turn them on again.
I agree with Peter that I think it's an operating system issue, but there could be an interaction with InDesign in that it appears what appears to be a Place or Open dialog.
I think you implied you were using InDesign CC. Have you updated to InDesign CC 9.1? (or are you using a different version?)
Did you try restoring your InDesign preferences?
You didn't tell us what version of Mac OS X you're using. Have you updated to the latest OSX update version?
thanks, i have on different machines... mac pro (older one ;-( and a macbook air) both on mavericks..
1 version indesign cc and the other indesign 5.5 ( on that version i have name+ date, nothing else)
Where can i restore indesign preferences? i see something for cs 2 and 3, but not for cs 5.5
Thanks, i saw this not or work-around...
the strange thing is...i can't find the cache for indesign...
user/user/ don't have a cache
harddisk/library nothing, only com.apple files
harddisk/library there i found a "com.adobe.InDesign.7.5.plist" is this the one?
and when i searche for it..(cache of indesign, saveddata) i can't find it..
this is my work mac...i will check it at home this evening...
The file MacHD/Users/<yourname>/Library is a hidden folder on OSX10.7 and newer. Do a Google search on "Mac OS Hidden Library folder" (without the quotes) for instructions on how to access it.
thanks a lot, that works...
the only thing, i can't find the default...??
2 files indesign default and indesign saved data
Saved data...i see...i'm working with 5.5 should i restart and delete the preferences with Cmd + Ctrl + Opt + Shift
or must i find the default first?
deleting the preferences is oke for me...but i only want to keep my print preferences...is that possible?
To access the library on the mac, go to
Menu > Go To > Go To Folder…
There insert the path,
for all users’ library: /Library/
for your personal library: /users/[username]/Library/
Instead of [username] write your username.
I woul also recommend to drag the Library folder into the side bar, it will help to access it later without the Go To Command.
You can use the keyboard method without loacating files first. That said, if you can locate one file but not the other it probably means you didn't read the file paths carefully. They are in differnt folders.
Printer presets are part of the InDesign Defaults file and will be lost when you reset the prefs, no matter what method you use, so before you do that go to File > Print Presets > Define... and select all of your presets, then click the Save button. Put the file someplace safe that you will remember (and where it won't be deleted). After replacing the prefs you can go back to the same dialog and click the Load button, find your file, and reload the print presets.
Workspaces, PDF presets, Keyboard Shortcuts and custom Find/Change queries should survive a prefs reset, but they can all be backed up as well. I think I covered that pretty well in the reset the prefs topic.
