    Working with Book stylesheets

I've created a book document linking a bunch of Indesign documents (Chapters) together. They all now have syncronized paragraph/character stylesheet. What I would like to do now is change the name of a paragraph stylesheet in my source document and have the name automatically changed in all the other documents. As-is, it seems I can change the attributes of a style (and that will be changed on all linked documents when syncronized) no problem, but if I change the actual name of the style, it will just add this new style to the other attached files rather than override the original style. Anyway to get around this?
