First, replace the prefs. See Replace Your Preferences
Next, empty your InDesign Recovery folder
Then install the 5.0.4 patch for CS3
Been discussed a number of times in the past...
Thank you for your reply,
How do I empty my in Design recovery folder ?
It should be in the same Caches folder as the InDesign SavedData file, and you'll find the path for your OS in the link about replacing the prefs. Since you haven't mentioned your OS, I can't tell you which one is correct, or if the folder is hidden by default (but it very likely is).
And please turn off or delete the autoquote when you respond by email. Thanks.
I have Macbook Pro using osx Version 10.8.5 is that any help? I am having problems trying to find the caches?
I have just made a new user account and now in Design works perfectly fine now on the new user account. So, it seems to be not working correctly on my current user account?...
The recovery folder should be in Hard Drive/Users/<USER>/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/5.0/
If emptyin g it and replacing the prefs in the original accoutn is not enough to make it work, see John's list of additonal things to delete at Adobe Forums: InDesign crashes at startup
I didn't need to do any of the above. I just opened up In Design in another user account and then re opened it in mine and now it is working perfectly. I didn't need all the blurb above, but thank you. That was much easier.!
