I searched this (and many other forums) but was unsuccessful..
After upgrading from CS6 to CC my After Effects did not start (freezez at "Initializing MediaCore"). I checked the log and found it tries to load quicktime "from Disk" - that is basically the end of the log.
So when I uninstalled quicktime it would start normally - so I gave it another try - installed quicktime and have the same issue again. I don't have any other codecs installed, no third party plugins. I basically watch all my video with VLC so I'm pretty sure I don't have codecs installed.
Is there a way to get around this? Things I could try?
Cheers & and happy holidays!
What version of CC are you running? What OS are you using?
sorry forgot that information since it's vital...
I'm running Win7 x64 and the very latest version of AE (CC Subscription, I keep my stuff updated).
I might want to add that I have a similar setup on my latpop and here AE is working perfecly fine.
What version of QuickTime?
