1. Re: Converting premiere timeline from mac to pc
Mark Mapes Dec 20, 2013 7:49 PM (in response to mic333)Premiere projects should be seemlessly interchangeable between platforms. The most likely hitch in handing a project across the platform divide--or even from one computer to another on the same platform--is that a codec was used on the originating system is not installed on the destination system.
I suspect the actual problem is that a project saved in PPro CC cannot be opened in CS5.5. PPro is backwards compatible (meaning that a newer version can open projects from an older version), but it's not forward compatible (projects from a newer major version cannot be opened in an older version).

mic333 Dec 29, 2013 9:03 AM (in response to mic333)Update and question: I imported the premiere cc timeline using edl format into my cs5.5 software. The timeline files come up but are all unlinked. Is there a one-shot method of linking the whole thing without doing it one by one? Or Could my assistant save the project in his cc into a cs5.5 format? Hope I'm clear.
Thanks for considering it

4. Re: Converting premiere timeline from mac to pc
JSS1138 Dec 29, 2013 10:12 AM (in response to mic333)Projects can't be saved as an earlier version. But PP should find all the files in the same folder upon opening the project and pointing it to the first file. If any files are in other folders, PP will ask again, and so on until all files are found.

mic333 Dec 29, 2013 3:13 PM (in response to mic333)I downloaded Pro CC but a new problem arose. There were no error messages and it went straight through to 'importing files' but gets stuck and stays stuck. Is there a way to manuaaly point pro cc to the project files?

7. Re: Converting premiere timeline from mac to pc
JSS1138 Dec 29, 2013 4:59 PM (in response to mic333)There is, but only once the project is open.
Or, you could rename the media folder and initiate the ask.

mic333 Dec 29, 2013 5:21 PM (in response to JSS1138)OK J,
I'll open a new project , import the timeline. I'll rename the media folder and see what happens.

9. Re: Converting premiere timeline from mac to pc
mic333 Dec 31, 2013 8:17 AM (in response to mic333)I did open the timeline and started the link media process. The first dozen or so(what was visible in the dialog box) linked within seconds but then it stalled. I couldn't see or scroll down to see what else was being checked but it went on for hours. Something is clogging it but I don't know what. Could it be an after effects clip? Should I put everything in one folder and leave out the After effects stuff?

mic333 Dec 31, 2013 4:31 PM (in response to JSS1138)Hi Jim,
Think I found a solution. I took a protion of my files. put them in a new folder, then repeated the process a few times. Then I imported them to see how they would load. What I found was that several of the files - all mp3's and After Effect clips - wouldn't load. So that was what was clogging up the pipeline. Now I'll remove those files, and load everything in, import the timeline and see what happens.
