1. Re: MXF plays fine in every Adobe product but After Effects
Todd_Kopriva Dec 22, 2013 9:30 AM (in response to michaelmcreynolds)Sony F5 footage? That format is not supported for import in After Effects.
You can make a feature request here:

michaelmcreynolds Dec 23, 2013 11:50 AM (in response to Todd_Kopriva)Hum, well that's kinda BS. I mean the codec already exists for premiere and media encoder. I don't understand the problems and issues with translating that to AE, but it sure does put a damper in the workflow.

michaelmcreynolds Dec 23, 2013 3:46 PM (in response to Todd_Kopriva)Thanks Todd, I did put in a feature request for it specifically, but wondering if I should put in a request like "get codecs from all the major camera manufacturers and implement them in all programs before the cameras are released so no one ever has to transcode the footage they just shot on their new camera." Seems like if I were Sony, I'd be working hard to get you guy everything you could possibly need to get the footage up and working as soon as possible.

5. Re: MXF plays fine in every Adobe product but After Effects
Todd_Kopriva Dec 23, 2013 4:32 PM (in response to michaelmcreynolds)It's additional work for each format and codec, and we prioritize the work based on requests. The Premiere Pro team has gotten more requests for this than the After Effects team, which is why they did it sooner. This conversation is one of the first few times that I have seen interest in this format expressed for After Effects.
All that said, we're already considering this work for early in 2014. Your feature request influences just how early.
