1. Re: Looking for lightroom lens profile for tamron lens
ssprengel Dec 22, 2013 11:16 AM (in response to ronze98)LR lens profiles are for raw photos, only, mostly. Are you working with CR2 or JPG images? This distinction is because cameras can do lens corrections to their JPGs and LR would be overcompensating if it also did them.

ronze98 Dec 22, 2013 1:33 PM (in response to ssprengel)I have both CR2 and JPG images. Any ideas on where to get the needed profiles? I thought it should have came with LR 4.1 and above...

JimHess Dec 22, 2013 1:40 PM (in response to ronze98)Supporting a camera does not imply that all lenses available for that camera will have profiles. If there isn't a profile for that lens you can use the Lens Profile Downloader available from Adobe Labs to see if someone else has shared such a profile. Or you can use the Lens Profile Creator to create your own profile for the lens.
Generally speaking, it is my understanding that Adobe provides lens profiles for the more popular lenses for any given camera. Your lens might be a popular one, but it could also be one for which a profile has not been provided.

elie-d Dec 22, 2013 4:40 PM (in response to ronze98)I also use a 5D2 with a Tamron 24-70 and I can testify that LR 5 does have the profile for that lens and CR2 full frame files. Regarding jpgs I can't say, I have never shot one.

ronze98 Dec 22, 2013 5:09 PM (in response to ssprengel)Both lens are listed there and lens profile are listed as available starting in 4.1 and 4.3. Where can I download and bring the profiles into LR manually?
TAMRON SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD A007E
TAMRON SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Di VC USD A009E

7. Re: Looking for lightroom lens profile for tamron lens
elie-d Dec 22, 2013 5:14 PM (in response to ssprengel)I have now arrived home, so to continue; there are actually two profiles TAMRON SP 24-70 F/2.8 Di VC USD A007E and TAMRON SP 24-70 F/2.8 Di VC USD A007N. E is Canon and N is Nikon. The profile will probably not come up with the Auto setting because there is some ambiguity in lens identity codes in the metadata, with at times Canon, Sigma and Tamron all using the same codes for different lenses. Set Tamron from the Maker menu and find your lenses in the long Model menu. (the 70-200 is there also, I just checked). One or the other lens can be made the default selection in the Setup menu.
I also tried it with a psd generated from a Raw file and the lens profiles are active for it also.

elie-d Dec 22, 2013 5:29 PM (in response to elie-d)In Windows 7 the lens profiles are in C:/ProgramData/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Tamron/Canon. Check there to see if the profile is present.
If they are not there, send me an email to e _ dinur at-symbol yahoo period com>(remove spaces) and I will send them to you.

9. Re: Looking for lightroom lens profile for tamron lens
ronze98 Dec 22, 2013 6:39 PM (in response to elie-d)I went here: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0
and it contains a few folders such as canon, sigma etc, but tamron is not one of them. This computer also has lightroom 4.3 installed, not sure if it may be causing issues.

10. Re: Looking for lightroom lens profile for tamron lens
ronze98 Dec 22, 2013 6:44 PM (in response to ronze98)I did more poking around, and in this folder:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera
It is missing a lot of the newer camera profiles, such as canon 60d, 5d3, 6d etc..wonder if i should just uninstall both copies of LR and reinstall just 5?

11. Re: Looking for lightroom lens profile for tamron lens
ssprengel Dec 22, 2013 7:03 PM (in response to ronze98)The ProgramData folders are for Photoshop and are probably as old as the newest version of PS or DNG Converter you have.
The lens profiles for Lightroom 4 and 5 are under LR's Resources subfolder:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom x.x\Resources\LensProfiles\1.0\
(x.x = whatever version of LR you have)
For my LR 4.4 I have the following 16 subfolders under LensProfiles\1.0:
Apple
Canon
Fujifilm
Hasselblad
Leica
Mamiya
Nikon
Pentax
Phase One
Samsung
Schneider
Sigma
Sony
Tamron
Tokina
Zeiss
LR 5.3 adds DJI and GoPro as manufacturers for a total of 18 subfolders.

12. Re: Looking for lightroom lens profile for tamron lens
ronze98 Dec 24, 2013 9:25 AM (in response to ssprengel)Ok I restarted the computer (win7) and now I can see the tamron lens profile. I m not sure why it did not show up before. The auto setting doesn't work as described. It thinks the tamron 2470 is the canon 2470 2.8 mk1.
