Mark Mapes Dec 22, 2013 6:25 PM (in response to jazstudio)First off, the dot is the fields indicator (with interlaced video, it shows whether a frame is upper field of lower field).
I worked on a bug for the 7.2 release that caused the Timecode filter and the Clip Name filter to fail with the renderer set to either GPU Acceleration or Software Only--I can't remember which. I also don't recall whether that bug was present in the 7.1 release on introduced after 7.1 and fixed without ever making it into the real world.
Regardless, I just re-verified that the timecode effect works correctly for me in CC7.2.1 running on OSX10.8.5, with the Renderer set to either OpenCL GPU acceleration or software-only.
Please double-check that you have 7.2.1 installed and, if you have a graphics card that supports GPU acceleration, try it with Renderer in both modes.

3. Re: Timecode effect not working in PP CC 721
jazstudio Dec 22, 2013 8:35 PM (in response to Mark Mapes)Thanks for the reply. I just tried it in the different modes but the effect is still the same. I'm running 10.9.1. I noticed you said you were running 10.8.5. I'm also running a new MacBook Pro. Is there a way to uninstall the latest PP CC update to see if it's the problem? I haven't used the effect since joining the CC a couple of weeks ago so I'm not sure when it stopped working.
Thanks.

Mark Mapes Dec 22, 2013 10:20 PM (in response to jazstudio)This thread has instructions for rolling back to an earlier release: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5823746#5823746.
I just remembered another case that manifests exactly as you're seeing: the font used for the effect is missing or otherwise throwing PPRO a curveball. See this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5723805#5723805. In a more recent report of the same issue, I thought a developer reported that the font in question is Arial, but that's a rather dim recollection.
