You must have converted the files to dng to use in pse 10?
Anyway adobe says at least camera raw 7.2 is needed for those files:
Pse 12 should open them.
What operating system are you using?
If in the pse 12 editor you go to Help>About Plug-in, do you see camera raw listed and if you click on the word camera raw, what version does it say?
(mac pse 12 would be Photoshop Elements Editor>About Plug-in>Camera Raw)
Thank you for your reply. Yes they may have converted a while back but I didnt do them. I have these RAW files from Italy I cannot open. I am on Windows 8.1 and when I go to Help>About Plug-in there is NO RAW listed. So I went to Help>Updates and I am all cool, everything is updated (downloaded from Adobe today).
I would uninstall and reinstall PSE12.
Did a complete uninstall and reinstall and still no Camera RAW plugin when I do a Help>About Plug-In. I have also ran updates and everything is up to date. Confirmed I cannot open RAW files but my camera is supported.
Unfortunately not. This is my problem with no plugin. Even when I do an update the Adobe site says all is updated.
You might try updating using the manual process, here, using what you extract from the ACR 8.3 CC setup.zip found at the following #notconnected link:
Instructions for installing manually, just change your source for the plug-in to the setup.zip and the version of Elements to 12:
Also, check to see if a camera raw plugin is actually installed by going to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 12\File Formats (64 bit windows 8.1)
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 12\File Formats (32 bit windows 8.1)
and see if there is a Camera Raw.8bi in the folder.
Many thanks - this worked but had to use the 1003 file within the archive. This gave me the version 8 RAW ability.
That could be, since the instructions were based on a camera-raw updater made specifically for PSE, while the setup.zip you downloaded had both 32-bit and 64-bit plug-ins for Photoshop.
