I have a file with many placed images
The images are large in size - ranging between 500kb to 2 mb
When I print, InDesign does a quick job in spooling the document
but it takes a looong time for the data to be transfered to the printer - could take 30-45 seconds per page!!!
I am using a Xerox Phaser 4510 laser printer - Mac OSX 10.8 - InDesign CS6
Does anyone have any advice on how to spped up this process?
This would save me a LOT of time!
Thanks in advance
Printing as never been one of InDesign strong points. Export a PDF and print that.
Thanks for the quick reply!!
I am going to test out what you said - I'll post my results afterwards
I just tested printing from a PDF doc:
Acrobat did print faster than InDesign
However, at first it was also very slow - so I looked further into it
It seems that the main cause for the slow printing was due to the printer setting to print in High Quality
When I brought it down to normal, it sped up the process by a lot!
However, even after that, Acrobat did print faster than InDesign
Thanks a lot Bob!
All the best
