shooternz Dec 27, 2013 12:58 PM (in response to ronze98)I am no sound guy but ...the closer the mic...the better the result.
It helps eliminate bg and peripheral sound issues as well as been cleaner and clearer.
A lav on the lapels is a good option. Esp wireless.

ronze98 Dec 27, 2013 1:54 PM (in response to shooternz)Sorry my question was not clear. Is there a way to reduce the unwanted noise in premiere. I search thru the buildin audio effects but unsure which can be and should be use.

shooternz Dec 27, 2013 2:00 PM (in response to ronze98)You would be looking for the Cough and Kids Scream Reduction Effect.
It doesnt exist.
My answer was to ..
Would a lav mic give better result?
It will help but not eliminate issues such as those.

Steven L. Gotz Dec 27, 2013 5:04 PM (in response to ronze98)Not in Premiere Pro.
You might get rid of some of it in Audition if it is significantly distinct in frequency from the speaker. Just erase it in the visual representation of the audio band.

Bill Hunt Dec 27, 2013 8:06 PM (in response to ronze98)There are many methods for reducing background noise in Audio, but, as Steven says, Adobe Audition is the more powerful tool for that process. This article might be helpful in getting you started: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5803446#5803446
From your description, I would think that much can be handled pretty easily in Audition - such as with the Transient Removal Tool.
Good luck,

Steven L. Gotz Dec 28, 2013 5:34 AM (in response to shooternz)Well, if the speaker has a deep voice, the higher pitched coughs and children's sounds might be distinct. But if the speaker has a relatively high voice, then it becomes almost impossible.

Jerry Klaimon Dec 28, 2013 6:38 AM (in response to ronze98)You never know until you try something if it's going to work well enough for your purposes. The sound removal tool in Audition is pretty good if you can isolate, when the speaker's voice is silent, a sample of the sound you are trying to remove and save it as the sound model.

Bill Hunt Dec 28, 2013 9:11 AM (in response to shooternz)Shooter,
That frequency range IS the tough part, and success might only be measured in small %.
For the Transients, Audition does an amazingly great job. For general BG noise, it's good, BUT is far from perfect.
The ideal "fix" is in the mic setup and recording phase.

10. Re: Reduce unwanted noise Premiere Pro 6
Bill Hunt Dec 28, 2013 9:15 AM (in response to Jerry Klaimon)Jerry,
I agree completely.
When doing such work, I am not trying to isolate the speaker's voice over total silence. I want a bit of ambient noise, and Audition will get one fairly close. Care must be taken, when removing BG noise, that there are few residual effects to the speaker's voice. A bit too much noise removal, and the voice goes "tinny," and develops an echo - but just enough, and the voice still comes through fairly purly, with a reduction in the BG.
For Transients, like a cough, or similar, those can often be attenuated greatly, on a one-by-one basis. It can be time-consuming, but the results are usually very good.

JSS1138 Dec 28, 2013 2:38 PM (in response to ronze98)I think you're best option on this is to get everyone out of the church before you begin recording. Outside of that, what you got is 'to be expected', rather than 'corrected'.
