    CF 8 cfdocument style width bug

      This appears to be fixed with HF1 but it's not listed in the HF1 list of fixed issues, which didn't help me find the answer as quickly as could have been

      I'm posting this here so perhaps either some else will find the solution (which is to apply HotFix 1)
      or that Adobe will post this on the HF1 list of fixes so it's easier to search for and find the answer.

      pre HF1 if you

      <cfdocument format="pdf" pagetype="letter">
      <div style="width:7in;height:6in;border:1px solid;">
      TEXT HERE
      </div>
      </cfdocument>

      you get a box with about a 3 inch right hand margin (even if you explicitly set all margins to .25in)

      change the width to 8 inches

      <cfdocument format="pdf" pagetype="letter">
      <div style="width:8in;height:6in;border:1px solid;">
      TEXT HERE
      </div>
      </cfdocument>

      you get same right margin and a smaller box and the text is scaled down...

      for an extreme example

      <cfdocument format="pdf" pagetype="letter">
      <div style="width:20in;height:6in;border:1px solid;">
      TEXT HERE
      </div>
      </cfdocument>

      produces same 3 in margin, a tiny box and unreadable text...

      spans return the same thing
      <span style="width:7in;height:6in;border:1px solid;display:block;">

      only thing that works is width:100%

      this was confirmed by several other colleagues as to be the case

          I have experienced the same thing. When using cfdocument, the entire page is sized down and right third of the PDF is white. I have only had this happen using CF8 Developer Edition. Could this be so people can not do a background over the watermark?
