    AME CS6 vs Compressor

    Joe Riggs Community Member

When compressing using the MPEG2-DVD match attributes preset in AME, I'm left with 2 thin horizaontal black bars on the side, this is the default, to remedy this, I have to select "Scale to Fill".

When using Compressor, if I select the DVD preset, it will deliver an outputted file without those horizaontal black bars.

So I was curious why AME does it that way? Futhermore, since Compressor is not scaling the the image, it's not blowing up the picture. The blow up is small in AME but still.

We don't want to cut or stretch your video, which is what scaling does so that's why we don't scale by default.

Match Attributes MPEG2 DVD preset matches attributes while making sure they still support DVD standards.

That means your source has to have a standard dimensions (ex: 720x480) in order to not see the black bars by default.

What are the dimensions of your Compressor output vs AME output?
