Is this an error you're seeing when you validate the file? (What exactly is the error?) What's the information you're relying on that you need a missing mimetype file?
Hi Steve, thanks for answering.
I have created a book in indesign 5.5 with relevant styles and a table of contents. When I preview it in Adobe Digital Editions the contents page doesn't work in that when I click on the link it doesn't go to the relevant page. However the built in table of contents , the one that is created in the reader itselfe works.
Since writing the question I have tried deleting the table of conte in indesign that i pasted on to the page and have manually created one with hiperlinks. That has solved the problem for me in the Adobe digital editions previewer.
Now I have tried opening this file and coverting it to mobi file for a kindle but the Kindle previewer is not opening that file to convert it. At least it was opening and converting the file that had the automicly created Table of Contents before I deleted it and wrote it myself. But it still had the same problem with the navigation not working.
I'm becoming desperate!
Oh and sorry, the mimetype is something I know little about but when I look at the files in BBEdit its not there. Neither is an OPF file but I don't know how significant they are.
You need to "validate" your epub file for errors. Run it through: http://validator.idpf.org/ and it might give you a hint of where the trouble might be. Once it passes this validation it will open in Kindle Previewer.
Thanks very much, I'll try that
