In fact, even Hollywood pros often have to "loop" or re-record dialog in a studio because the audio they recorded on location was ruined by wind, traffic or other background noise.

However, there ARE things that one can do to attenuate the noise, but success will depend very heavily on so many factors. This Tips & Tricks article mentions some of the things that can be done, and those techniques MIGHT be helpful.
