Are you fully up to date with inDesign?
These two files probably have some internal problem, perhaps a corrupt link or a bad font.
Any erro message at all? What OS?
tried to update everything and hasnt helped
Possibly, are they forever gone now, or is there a way of opening them at all do you know any solution?
I dont thinks so, not sure which OS it is
With no documents open try this script
Select the folder where your file is
And select the output format to be IDML.
I'm not sure if it will work - as I think it has to open the file to export it - but it might work.
How to install scripts
OS = Operating System = some version of Windows or some version of Mac OS X...
there is a "blind export" script at Adobe Community: InDesign 6 is crashing when attempting to open a particular document. All others are opening OK. that might or might not help, too.
Once we know the OS we may be able to offer more help, too.
I looked at my about this mac and all i can say is it is Mac OS X, is that any help?
also what is a script? thanks
A bit. I means you can't use the Windows-only recovery tool.
You might have a crash log, though, that could shed some light, if you can figure out how to find it (I'm a windows user so I don't know where to tell you to look). If you can find it, post it on Pastebin.com (NOT here) and give us a link to it.
And see Troubleshoot fonts | Mac OS X
Scripts ar miniature programs that can run inside InDesign for information on how to install and run them, see How to install scripts in InDesign | InDesignSecrets
