InDesign, at least out of the box, does not have an autosave function. It does write a recovery file periodically as you make changes in case of a fialure to close the program properly, and you cannot turn that off (nor would you wnat to, most likely -- it's completley transparent to the user and is the best recovery from disaster in the business).

Can we switch off creating recovery file?
I have trouble believing you can even tell it's being created. What problems are you having? What's your OS? Is InDesing patched to 7.5.3?
