1. Re: Font problem
gener7 Jan 13, 2014 7:24 PM (in response to SteveH59)Here's some things to check:
Type of keyboard you are using, US English is my standard.
I use Myriad Pro as my font.
Reset Character panel (reset is under the panel menu) This panel are under Photoshop's Window menu if you do not see it.
And under Preferences > Type, choose East Asian.
Restart if you make any changes and try again.

gener7 Jan 13, 2014 8:06 PM (in response to SteveH59)Ok that looks like something very early. CS2?
Under the Window Menu you click on Character and a checkmark shows.
Then over to the right side of PS the Character Panel or Palette should be visible.
In the upper right corner of this panel is a right pointing triangle.
Click on that and see if Reset is an option.
If not, or if it doesn't work, reset Photoshop by holding down the Ctrl-Alt-Shift keys while starting Photoshop. You should see a dialog asking if you want to reset your prefs. Agree and see if that fixes it.

5. Re: Font problem
SteveH59 Jan 13, 2014 8:43 PM (in response to gener7)I pressed Ctrl + Alt + Shift on restart and deleted the present settings. I then changed from US default settings to Europe settings, but still got the comma at the beginning of a sentence when using the type tool. So I changed it back to US default settings and I still got the comma at the beginning of a sentence.
If I uninstalled PS and resinstalled it, would that helpme out? I don't mind, but would I lose plug-ins, brushes, etc that I have downloaded online over the past few months?
Thanks

6. Re: Font problem
gener7 Jan 13, 2014 10:40 PM (in response to SteveH59)I've been reading up to see if I can give you a better answer.
This behavior is as if it were a Middle East edition of Photoshop. In Photoshop 6, General Preferences, East Asian text options should be unchecked.
I forgot to ask you to select and reset the Paragraph panel. It should have a reset function.
I think you can hold down the Shift key while starting Photoshop to disable plugins. (They can cause trouble sometimes).
I am a bit confused, but I don't think your Presets should be affected if you re-install. If you are worried about it, go into the Photoshop folder and make a backup of your Presets and Plugins folders.
I'll be a bit busy tomorrow, but anyone else is free to join this discussion.
