I have downloaded and installed Adobe Digital Editions on a PC with a Windows 8.1 operating system. I have several books on my bookshelf which I have downloaded to my PC. When I open them to read on my PC, however, none of the various editing functionalities that are available when I access the online version of the book are available to me, i.e., highlighting, notetaking, etc. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

The interface may be different from what you are expecting.
Select the text by swiping. right-click and you should get a dropdown menu: choose "Highlight" or "Add a not to text"
