I would need a little more information to assist you.
Adobe makes many different types of files, what is the file type? Do you know which application is supposed to open it? Or do you know what the file extension is?
What operating system are you on?
The issue is "file type association" which can get changed by installing another program, you can always change it back but to give instruction I'd need to know the operating system and the type of file. You can google "file type association mac/windows" for more information.
Thank you for your response.
My system is MC 7 Professional. The files are ordinary adobe files – some I have used for years, but over the last couple of months, every time I try to open it, it refuses, I can preview, but not open it. I use “Adobe Reader XI to open of these, but only if I drag and drop it into to the reader. Hope that this helps.
I also run Adobe In design 8 .
OK - right click on one of the files you would open with Adobe Reader (PDF file) and choose "Open With", this will open a sub-menu and at the bottom is "Choose Default Program", click "Choose Default Program" and this will bring up a list of possible programs to open PDF files, locate and click on "Adobe Reader" and Apply. This will re-set Adobe Reader as the default program for PDF files.
The same can be done for InDesign files if those are not opening in InDesign.
You are a marvel, thank you.
Indesign is all good, thank you.
