Why would you need to re-enter anything? When you insert the new content, all pre-existing content that follows will move (down; so to speak). You may have to make more room at the end and/or adjust column/frame/page breaks that follow, depending on the content and how it was originally set, but nothing will diappear unless you expressly delete it.
Since I am talking about a catalogue, each page is also accompanied by pictures so I will have to move all the pictures as well. That's why I was wondering if I can do it by inserting a new spread and threading it to the rest somehow.
Images should be anchored along with the text.
See the scripting forum
They might be able to create a script that will anchore all your objects insitu.
As mentioned, they ought to be anchored.
But if I am understanding properly, go to the page you wish to insert (an)other page(s) for your new text. Have the pages panel open. Make sure the page you wish to insert new pages selected. Right-click and choose to insert how many ever pages either before or after the selected page.
Thanks. If I do this and then create text boxes in those extra pages, place my content in there, how do I thread those new text boxes to the rest?
You rethread the new frames with fear and trepidation...
Add the content to the inserted pages.
Break the thread on the first frame on the page after the threaded pages.
Copy all the text in the new added page frames.
Click into the last frame of the page before the new pages.
Move the cursor to the bottom (last word) of that frame.
Open the Story Editor. You should see that your cursor is just before the indicator of the overset text.
Add a paragraph return.
Paste your new copy.
Rethread the frames.
Make sure to do this on a copy of your publication. If your added copy dowesn't flow competely through the added pages like my dummy text above did, you may need to adjust the frame size to force the break. You might want to insert a frame break character, etc.
You really, really want to use anchored images in the future.
Thanks for your advice, Mike
I succeeded to add the content quite easily; at least easier than what my expectations were
I did not follow the exact same steps but used the Story Editor which was of big help and also learned something new.
It seems like the text boxes were well threaded so most of them I did not even need to re-thread and the content after the new part just followed.
Will definitely try with anchored images next time. Thanks!
