Thank you very much! I wish this would have been in the FAQ list.
Not so much here, but over in the Premiere Pro forum several Adobe employees post to help people
I can't remember which one, but at least one Adobe employee has "alluded" to the idea that the specifications on the product pages are "market" driven to increase sales, not "technical" driven to let people know what they should have for EFFECTIVE video editing
The 1st configuration on the page I listed will work OK for P-Elements (it would not work so well for P-Pro)
When you do start using v12, lots of help links at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1275830
Welcome to the forum.
To help with some of the hardware considerations, can you also let us know what types of video you plan on editing? That might well help determine the minimum recommended CPU (a real-world rec., and not the published Adobe Minimum System Requirements).
John T's list is very useful for spec'ing a new system, and is based on real-world operation.
We capture a video during service and trim it and put a scrolling text leader on it and then save it as a flash (.flv) file for viewing on the church's web site. The incomming format is mpeg-2. In the future we plan on upgrading our video capture to HD 1080P and producing a HD quality video clip.
