How do i change the colour on a masthead design I purchased on-line?

The masthead is a paisley type design which is to become the border of my new website but when i try to change the colour in the way i thought i should it changed the colour of the mashead to a solid colour thus losing the design?

Well, you did not tell us about your work-flow.

Have you tried the Smart brush tool, which tends to preserve luminosity concurrent with the color change?

It would help if you post the design for additional guidance.

You can do that here via the camera icon at the top of the reply message box. You can not do it in an e-mail reply, however.

You can select all the colour you want to change with the Quick Selection tool, then add a Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer. Use the sliders to change the selected color.

Or you can work with the Color Replacement tool (it is in the Brush Tool group) with Mode 'Color'. Set your desired colour to the foreground colour. Set a low tolerance and just start painting, starting in an area with the colour you want to change. If the tolerance is low enough you can just paint across the whole image and it should only change pixels of the colour close (according to tolerance) to the ones you started with.

            Cheers,
