Hi Floppy. I'm not exactly clear on what your trying to do. You should be able to do what you want by clicking on the text field, choosing your font for the text field, and then clicking on the "Embed..." button. Choose the characters you would like to embed and you will be all set.
Select the font in the Library, right click or use the contextual menu in the Library and select Linkage... . Click on the "Export for ActionScript" button. You can leave the rest of the options as they are.
If you go back to the textArea and the textInput components, you should now see this new font in the font selection option. Select this font. Alternately, you can use the setStyle() method to set the font and any other formatting that you need.
In any case you will need to use setStyle() to set the font for the Alert component as it has no instance on the stage.
I tried the same that Flppy wants to do.
I have a font in the library and Export for Ationscript is checked.
The point is that either TextArea and TextInput components don't have "Font" in the parameters choice.
I guess a Style method must be used, but after reading Flash's help for hours I can't find the way.
Can you show us how to write the code ? I also would like to know it.
You're right,my mistake, components don't have a font parameter, I was thinking of the textField. In any case you can use setStyle.
1. Import the font(s) that you want to use into your movie's Library.
2. Set each font's Linkage to be exported for Actionscript. Set the identifier name as you like
3. Set your component(s) on the stage.
4. Name each component instance.
5. In a frame action space, define the style for each component:
componentName.text = "hello";
componentName.embedFonts = true;
There is a section in the online help that lists the various style properties that you can set for each component.
That's exactly what I wanted to know !!!!!
Thank you very very very much .
This evening I will try it, and if I have some problem I'll come back to you.
I went to see your Site : GREAT !
It is really nice !
(How did you make the chat ? Is it a paid service or you made it yourself ? I am looking for something like that)
See you later.
If you mean that "I'm away" notice, that's a skype icon that reacts to the computer that I have skype set up on. It comes with the program.
Hi again Rob !
I though that the one on your site it was the icon of a chat ... very nice site, anyway
Well, back to my problem....still not working !!!!!
I made a new font in the library and gave linkage name "my_font".
I brought a textInput instance to the stage and gave it instance Name "name_ti"
and than, in the main timeline I wrote :
name_ti.text = "";
name_ti.embedFonts = true;
The result is that the field seems to be dead and can't even write in it anymore !!!
Any other idea ?
See you soon....
Nobody can help ?
