I get an internal server error for either address.
If the server is set up correctly, www.yoursite.com/index.html and www.yoursite.com would automatically go to the same place.
Try renaming your file without a capital I, i.e., (index.html, not Index.html). All non-windows hosting accounts will be case-sensitive.
can yoy take a look at the url now. I am trying to redirct it using .htaccess
Why do that (redirect in htaccess)?
When I browse to Index.html, I get a 404. When I browse to index.html, I am redirected to the domain root, and it works.
Anyhow, I can't like the way you have done this splash page. You have given up the most important page on your site to something that has NO search engine value by doing that.
could you adivce me on what to do to create search egine value?
The page needs to have -
1. A title tag that contains the most relevant information for the site (<75 characters)
2. A description meta tag that is suitable for display on a page of Google hits (<150 characters)
3. Human readable content that contains site-specific keywords place in appropriate semantic markup (e.g., <h1>, <h2>, <h3>, etc.)
A splash page like you have gives away its very valuable real estate to a background color or simpy a graphic element.
