Yes, Adobe knows. This stuff never worked right in the first place, that's why it defaults to off. Perhaps it gets fixed one day, perhaps not. that's all you'll ever hear about it.

What kind of response are you looking for?
We have in several places mentioned the issue and the workaround, as well as saying that we are working on addressing this and similar performance issues.
For now, leave the cache indicators off.
Oh sorry, I hadn't seen anything from Adobe officially mentioning the issue. I searched and I saw one person discussing it with no replies from Adobe staff, plus some other thread on creativecow discussing it.
Sorry if my post seemed a little ungrateful. I have noticed recently that After Effects has had lots of great improvements and as a whole you seem to be incorporating a lot of customers feedback in the last few updates.
