Not much detail in the question, but:
Application.application returns a reference to the top-level application/document. You can use that reference to access any public members in that scope.
Indeed i am not explaining a lot :
here is the mxml :

<mx:Application xmlns:mx=" http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="vertical">
public fucntion sayHello(toWho:String):Void
The goal is to call the sayHello method (defined in the mxml) from the swf compiled with flash cs3.

You can use the SWFLoader.content property. You will need an id on the SWFLoader, and need to be aware of timming issues.
