there should be no problem unless this a multiline textfield. is it?
is there any text in the field at runtime? if not, and it is autosized, i suppose in theory, it would not show? anyway, quicktest here worked
multiline....kglad , we are back to that!!!!!
kglad, vertine, thank you for responding.
to answer your questions:
yes there is text to begin with, and
yes it is multiline... uh oh, based on your response, that doesnt sound too encouraging.
well, if it's multiline how can flash know how wide to make the textfield before starting another line? ie, it makes no sense to expect the textfield to size its width somehow and also drop to another line (and size its height). you can auto size one or the other (width or height) in any one textfield, but not both.
yes, that makes sense.
i wonder though if it is possible to do something like set the MAX width, so the textField border would shrink to the width of shorter text, but not go beyond the set max... and still be multiline... that way, once one line reached the max width, obviously the whole textField would stay at that width regardless of what is entered on other lines....
i understand that but don't know any way to communicate that to flash and have it size the textfield accordingly.
check this out!
(for me it's a good victory.. pretty basic i guess)
