1. Re: confusion about framerate
Richard M Knight Jan 25, 2014 8:44 AM (in response to richard ar)Going from 25 to 30 frames means that 5 extra frames per second need to be invented. Some machines, like the Snell Alchemist, do it very well (especially with movement) I have yet to find a software program that does it well.

richard ar Jan 25, 2014 10:15 AM (in response to Richard M Knight)Hello Richard
Thank's for the answer.
But the funny thing is the lenght off the 25 frame clip is the same on a 25 or 30 frame timeline from premiere .
Where does it get its frames from?
greetings
Richard

3. Re: confusion about framerate
Mark Mapes Jan 25, 2014 11:43 AM (in response to richard ar)The frame rate does not affect clip duration. That would create chaos. Premiere figures out what it needs to do--either duplicating or skipping frames--to make content of a certain frame rate work in a sequence of a different frame rate, or when exporting a sequence of a certain frame rate to different one.
Enabling frame blending might yield smoother results. Learn more here.

4. Re: confusion about framerate
Richard M Knight Jan 25, 2014 12:26 PM (in response to Mark Mapes)The Alchemist and to some extent the timewarp effect in AFX looks at the motion of the pixels between frames and works out where these pixels would be if a frame was put between the two others. It uses these calculations to generate the 5 missing frames every second. ( This is a very simplistic explanation for what is a very complex calculation especially if it is done in realtime)
